Little Boy Sweetness - Connecticut Greater Waterbury Area Newborn
This little guy was the sweetest cuddliest thing. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this gorgeous family and am thrilled to have been part of some of his first moments captured.

Documenting Life As It Happens - Connecticut Lifestyle Photographer
Some of you may have seen my recent Facebook post where I mentioned sharing my personal work with you all. Some of you may have not ... so I'll start from the beginning.
I am part of a wonderful group of women who are all part of the amazing Clickin Moms community. One of the lovely ladies pulled together a FB group in order for each of us to critique each person's work with an open mind, heart, and critical eye. Eventually, that turned into a conversation about finding your photographic style.
If you are not a photographer, you might not get that many of us struggle to figure out where we've been on our journey and where we are going. What does our style say about us ... about our work. Well, I was a little late to the game regarding the style posts and caught up at the butt end of the conversation...but that's okay, because I jumped in full force and went with what they were talking about.
So, I asked some questions, figured out what the conversation was all about and dove into a year and three months worth of work. Last night I sat at my computer from the time my boys were fast asleep to 1am sifting through all that work.
What did I find?
I found that I have some amazing images on my computer.
I found that I was able to relieve some great memories.
I found that my boys are growing up way too fast.
I found that I had so many beautiful images of my husband and my boys together - priceless.
I found that I don't have as many images of my boys with myself, but what I do have - crappy and snaptastic as they are ... I still love them.
I found that I love my work and that I was hoping that others love my work too. My real work. Not my client work. I am not saying that my client work is not real. But what I am saying is that my personal work is REAL to me --- real life - no scripts - spur of the moment - raw. My personal work is so very different from my client work.
I have actually started thinking about offering "a day in the life" type sessions...capturing moments like these. Just real and raw. No staging. No posing ... but that 's a different topic of conversation (prospective clients ... feel free to contact me though if that sparks an interest of course).
So, anyhow, what these ladies, from our great little group, came up with truly sparked a fire in my heart. It made me realize that I am good at what I do and that other people actually DO like my work. It's not regular session stuff ... it's just real life.
The descriptive words that came up:
documentary
moody
emotive
polished and dramatic
quirky
real
Hearing those words about my body of work is awesome ... because they totally describe my work. They absolutely nailed it and I needed them to help me figure it out. I am truly thankful for these amazing ladies. (Insert big hugs to you ladies here!!!)
And --- disclaimer ---- I never said these were technically correct, but I love each and every one for what they are and offer my mind and heart.
So, I've decided to share some of what I shared with them ... here for you to see. I would love to hear your thoughts, here or on Facebook.
Thanks for sticking around and reading all this...now onto the pictures (that's really why you are all here, right? lol)

Beautiful Light Beautiful Family - CT Litchfield County Family and Child Photographer
This session is another beautiful family that has been with me for two years...and again, like the previous post another friend was made. I am grateful for all I've been given in life - grateful for old and new friends alike. Big hugs Kim!
These were taken about supper time - so we were sort of fighting strong light that was working on setting. We were on a time crunch so we did what we had to do. And what is that? We looked for shade and back lighting. I am more than pleased with so many of the images from this session. I hope you enjoy them too. :)
Sunset Session in the Fall - Connectictut Litchfield County Family Photographer
I neglected to post from most of my sessions last year as I didn't love my website and that left me neglecting my blog. Just recently, I ditched my website and turned my boring blog into this blogsite. NOW? I am more likely to keep up with everything because honestly it's so much easier!
So, I introduce to you a lovely family who have come back to three years in a row. And what's better than that? We became fast friends that I am blessed to have in my life. It's amazing what this little business has done for me. It's opened my eyes to so much in photography, but more importantly it's brought such amazing people into my life. Carole thank you for being in my life.
This session was my first to take place at sunset. The light was much different - lots of haze - lots of natural warmth. It was beautiful. And if the light is right ... I just love a good black and white edit. Just a few to share with you.

A Sweet Face...Or Two - Connecticut Litchfield County Child Photographer
Again ... with my new lights. My boys decided that they were game to be my first guinea pigs. It was the most fun I think I've ever had with a "session" because I got to see my guys do some funny things. The best of all, I got to see my grandfather's hat being worn once again. The first time since I was a very tiny kiddo myself. How I miss that man. But I am glad that my kids gave that hat a little life this day.
And then both of the little guys at the very end of our fun. And I have to be honest with you. The image above was totally my little guy - just him being himself. The bottom I did have to do a little coaxing, but once I got them where I wanted them, it was all their own show. Some of my newest favorite pictures of my guys.
I can't possibly love this image anymore than I already do ... well, I can always love more.

Pure Twin Sweetness - Connecticut Greater Waterbury Newborns
As you know I have been working on learning strobe lighting...and I am SO glad. It has made editing that much easier. It's still a work in progress and I am continuing to learn and grow with this light set up.
This was my very first session that I did with my strobe lighting (well - other than pictures of my kiddos). How awesome that it was beautiful tiny baby girls. Love!

Practicing Studio Lighting ... and Having Fun!
At one point I was giving up newborn set ups in order to do more lifestyle work. However, I found that in my area, people just don't seem to want the lifestyle stuff. So, I started mixing lifestyle and the modern prop/blanket stuff that you see these days.
FYI - orange lips and around the mouth = ketchup stains from lunch. HA
I am an on location photographer, so planning a session is sometimes a whole lot of crossing fingers - praying for great natural lighting in the big beautiful sky. Well, that doesn't always happen. It stinks when the weather is uncooperative and you have to just figure it out.
Well, I am done making natural light work all the time for newborns (the only in home sessions I currently do). I have been taking a lighting course - Illuminate through Milk and Honey Photography - and I am quite pleased. I've practiced a few times and have a lot more to learn. However, I just HAD to share one from today - taken right in my living room (with plenty of work setting up my equipment).
I couldn't resist sharing!

A Self Portrait of this Connecticut Photographer
I am not ready to share the story behind this image publicly, but I would like to share the image with you.
This is my most recent self portrait. There was a lot of thinking going on when I was taking this series of images - with this being the only one that I loved enough to keep. Self portraits are hard. They are even harder to save and work on...so much easy to look at yourself on screen and toss it. But this one I like. Like I said, I am not going into what's going on in my mind here, but the image is one that I did want to share.
So for all who don't know what I look like, well now you do. :)
Have a great day everyone .... and remember to be kind to those around you - friends, family, and strangers a like. You never know what life is like for someone else, especially for those you aren't that close to or know at all.

It's All New .... Introducing My Blogsite
Hi and welcome!
Some of you may have visited my website before .... or visited my blog before. Yet now when you type in my web address you see something different - new - refreshing. I have finally ditched my old flash website. My old site was getting ... well, old. There was no joy in uploading and editing over there. However, now that I have figured out to how to turn my old blog into my very own blogsite (website and blog all rolled up into one lovely location) I am thrilled! Blogging for my business has never been something I enjoyed because I never really felt a need to do so. I used to love blogging on my personal blog. But having a website and a blog and a Facebook page...well, it just got to be too much.
So, now? I introduce to you my new blogsite. Here you will be able to see images from recent sessions (as they happen throughout the year). In addition, you can view my galleries - birth, newborn, children, and families. It's a work in progress here, so everything isn't quite done, and I am sure I'll be making changes as time goes on. However, for now this is it! A simple site to maneuver through.
All the links above are self explanatory....click through them and have a look. I would LOVE to know what you think, so please, leave a comment below!
Thanks for stopping by!!
